To analyse random migration, cells were seeded at a density of 2×104/ml on either glass coverslips or plastic dishes and filmed for 16 hours. Results shown here are the mean of at least three independent experiments. For Dunn chamber analysis, cells were seeded at 2×104/ml, starved of CSF-1 for 8 hours and then filmed in a Dunn chamber (see Materials and Methods) in a gradient of CSF-1 for 20 hours. Results shown here are the mean of at least three independent experiments ±SD. na, not applicable.
