For mean calculations multiple values for one tissue in a species were first averaged; ND and <0.01 were taken as zero. The ratio of mean teleost carnitine palmitoyl transferase (CPT) to mean elasmobranch CPT is given using the CPT values at the original assay temperature and CPT values adjusted to 25°C (Q10=2).
