There was an error in the Erratum published in J. Exp. Biol. 210,1298.

The discovery of the active adjustment of antennal vibrations was incorrectly suggested to have taken place at the Universitaet Koeln, Germany. The work was, in fact, carried out by Daniel Robert and Martin Gopfert while they were both at the University of Zurich.

The text should have read:

`Scientists previously believed that mosquito antennae vibrated passively in response to sound, however Martin Gopfert and Daniel Robert, at the University of Zurich, and now working in Koeln, Germany and Bristol, UK,respectively, showed that mosquitoes actively adjust how much their antennae vibrate.'

We apologise to all concerned for this error.
