We would like to correct an error in `Pendrin protein present in euryhaline elasmobranch!' that appeared in the March 2003 issue of Outside JEB. The last sentence in the second paragraph stated `Evans' lab recently collected evidence suggesting that pendrin is responsible for chloride/bicarbonate exchange in V-ATPase cells of the mammalian kidney'. This work, which identified pendrin in the mammalian kidney, was not conducted in Dr Evan's laboratory but was the result of work by I. E. Royaux and coworkers.
