ABSTRACT
The song of the cicada (genus : Cicadatra) has been studied.
The wave-form of the song shows two modes of amplitude modulation: (a) a slow modulation, period 8·3 msec; (b) a fast modulation, 40–75 μsec. growth and 185–250 μsec. decay.
There is indication of wave distortion and instability at the beginning and end of the song.
