Development is committed to providing transparency around pricing and publishing metrics.
We take part in the cOAlition S Journal Comparison Service, providing libraries, library consortia, and funders with the ability to quickly compare journal publishing services and fees. You can download Development's transparent metrics, along with those of the other journals of The Company of Biologists, based on articles published in 2023 and pricing valid in 2024.
We have seen considerable growth in the percentage of Open Access content in Development over the past few years, driven by our Read & Publish initiative.
Our Read & Publish agreements with many institutions and consortia around the globe have been a big driver of the Open Access growth in Development and its sister journals, as it offers corresponding authors at participating institutions fee-free OA publication of Research Articles.
