2020 collection: Single-cell Studies of Development and Stem Cells
Welcome to Development’s 2020 subject collection on Single-cell Studies of Development and Stem Cells.
Last year, we celebrated how single-cell techniques have revolutionised approaches to developmental biology and stem cell research with our Special Issue 'Development at the Single Cell Level', guest edited by Allon Klein and Barbara Treutlein.
Since then, Development continues to be a natural home for your single-cell research – both in vivo and in vitro. In this collection, our selected review-type articles discuss how single-cell studies have provided new perspectives for understanding the development of embryos, tissues and cell types. We highlight some of the Research Articles published this year using single-cell methods in a variety of contexts to uncover new cell types and developmental mechanisms. In addition, our Techniques and Resources articles provide a great place to share single-cell atlases and datasets that are valuable to the research community, as well as promoting new single-cell methods. We hope that you enjoy browsing through some of the articles in this collection and remember to think of Development for publishing your own single-cell studies.
