Focus on stem cells
Stem cells are inextricably linked with developmental biology. They underpin the formation and maintenance of our tissues, and are activated after injury to enable repair and regeneration. The recent advances in using stem cells to build organoids and stem cell-based embryo models have allowed us to probe deeper into developmental biology to reveal the mechanical, chemical and cellular roles of self-organisation, morphogenesis, pluripotency and differentiation.
Curated to complement the 2025 International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) Annual Meeting in Hong Kong, this collection highlights recent research and review-type articles discussing the wide range of studies using stem cells. We hope you find this collection interesting and welcome your own submissions for consideration by our expert Editors from the field including James Briscoe, Peter Rugg-Gunn, Matthias Lutolf and James Wells.
