Presubmission enquiries
Presubmission enquiries are not essential before submitting a manuscript to BiO. However, sending a presubmission enquiry allows authors to request advice from the Editors regarding whether a paper will be a strong candidate for consideration in BiO, and whether specific special requests (such as the need for speedy review) can be accommodated.
If you are uncertain of your paper's suitability for the journal, please first check BiO’s Aims and Scope. If you then wish to submit a presubmission enquiry, please contact the BiO editorial team.
Enquiries should include a clear and concise abstract and a cover letter that explains the main focus or findings of the manuscript, and outlines the significance of the reported advance for the field. Please also include any additional information that the Editors should take into account when considering your enquiry.
In the event of a positive response, you will be encouraged to submit the manuscript to BiO, although please note that a positive response is not a commitment that the article will be peer reviewed formally, but an expression of interest based on the information provided in the presubmission enquiry.
