Cover: The germinal vesicle (nucleus) of late-stage Xenopus laevis oocytes provides an ideal model to study the assembly and dynamics of non-membrane-bound subnuclear particles. The germinal vesicle features many large nucleoli that contain extrachromosomal copies of rRNA genes, RNA and proteins. Optimum harvest maturity for Leymus chinensis seed
Summary:Leymus chinensis can be harvested at 39 DAPA based on changes in seed colour and a germination test. In actual agricultural production, harvesting is optimal 10 days after the colour of the lemmas reaches yellow and the seed reaches heavy brown.
SMN and coilin negatively regulate dyskerin association with telomerase RNA
Summary: Newly-discovered interactions between the Cajal body proteins SMN and coilin with the telomerase complex are reported. These findings suggest that SMN and coilin participate in early steps of telomerase biogenesis.
Spermidine, but not spermine, is essential for pigment pattern formation in zebrafish
Summary: We show that the polyamine spermidine, but not spermine, in addition to more general functions during early development, also specifically regulates colour pattern formation in adult zebrafish.
Role of carriers in the transmission of pneumonia in bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis)
Summary: Previously exposed bighorn sheep can become carriers and transmit respiratory pathogens to naïve animals. Successive crops of lambs acquire pathogens and inadequate passive immunity and subsequently succumb to pneumonia.

Effects of TiO2 nanoparticles on nutrition metabolism in silkworm fat body

Zebrafish fin regeneration after cryoinjury-induced tissue damage
Summary: Fin cryolesion resulted in histolysis and a delayed tissue loss. Despite prolonged destruction of the stump architecture, fin regeneration resumed and was normally completed, revealing robustness of the regenerative capacity.
Metabolomics reveals significant variations in metabolites and correlations regarding the maturation of walnuts (Juglans regia L.)
Summary: This work provides a comprehensive metabolomic study of walnut kernels and reveals most of the carbohydrate and protein-derived carbons were transferred into other compounds during the maturation of walnuts.

Sipa1l1 is an early biomarker of liver fibrosis in CCl4-treated rats
Summary: Proteomic analysis of serum samples from fibrotic and cirrhotic rats revealed a reduction in SIPA1L1 concentration with potential use as a marker for early liver fibrosis diagnosis.

Reprogrammable CRISPR/Cas9-based system for inducing site-specific DNA methylation
Summary: We developed a CRISPR/dCas9-DNMT3A fusion protein to repress the expression of endogenous genes in combination with multiple guide RNAs. This tool can help us elucidate the role of DNA methylation in normal development and disease.
Quantitative analysis of 3D extracellular matrix remodelling by pancreatic stellate cells
Summary: A 3D platform to characterise biomechanical remodelling of ECM by myofibroblast-like cells, using SHG microscopy, atomic force microscopy and quantitative algorithms to reveal structural, topological and mechanical properties of 3D matrices.
