Traditionally, rapid peroxisome movement has been shown to be dependent on microtubules available for transport. However, in Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia patients we hypothesize that the peroxisomes are taking an alternate route via actin (shown here) against microtubules, as acetylated α-tubulin is downregulated in these patient cells.
